VOLUNTEER

We need volunteers for:

 

  • Interviewers - A friendly and understanding person to counsel and assist clients

 

  • Shoppers - To assist our clients in selecting the items and amounts of food needed

  • Baggers - Help clients who are unable to do so take their food to the parking lot

 

  • Drivers - Go to local groceries to pick up food.  Would need a van, SUV or small truck.  ALSO, we need volunteers who have a vehicle that can pull our trailer to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Winston-Salem to load up with food and return to ICM

"Friends of ICM" are those who commit to giving monthly what they can; $10, $20, $50, $100. One-Hundred percent of your donation  goes to help your friends and neighbors in our community to keep their heat and power on, feed their family, stay in their home and even buy the medicines they must have to live.

PLEASE NOTE: At checkout please specify which donation assignment you prefer by clicking on the "Add Special Instructions to the Seller".  Then type in the box your choice: "General Fund", "Food Only" or "Financial Assistance only".  Or, you can leave the instruction box empty and we will choose the most needed assignment at the time.  Thank you for your help.

FOOD DONATIONS

There are a number of ways to donate food.  Some ideas are:

   
INDIVIDUALS:  We have two parking spaces up front reserved for you.
 
SPONSOR A FOOD DRIVEThese are limited only by your imagination: Company, Church, Organization, Neighborhood, Sporting   Events, etc.   Call us for information and assistance.

YARD SALES:  Organize a family, multi-family, neighborhood or Church  yard sale with proceeds going to ICM


DONATION BARREL:  There are several in various grocery stores and other establishments around town.  Look for them.

MONEY:  We are able to purchase food from our partner, Second Harvest Food Bank in Winston-Salem for $.19 per pound!  That goes a long way in filling our shelves.

In the first  year, over 700 pounds of fresh produce was donated by our area farmers.  The program is being patterned after the very successful efforts in Guilford County.  (Click HERE for their website)

SHARE THE HARVEST encourages local farmers to grow an extra row to help provide fresh vegetables and fruits to those in our community who are in need of a more healthy diet.

The program is administered by the Iredell County Public Health Dept.  You may drop-off your produce at our facilitiy at: 752 Old Salisbury Road in Statesville.
